Lucy could feel her heartbeat pounding within her ears as she looked into Rain's amber eyes, seeing pain in his gaze as he offered her the route out that she had been reaching for for so long. She could die and escape the reality that had been tormenting her since she was sixteen…but it would mean that she would never see Rain again.
And that bothered her.
A frown creased her forehead, hating that her heart was aching at the idea of being taken from the wolf above her. He was a monster who had worked with Frost, someone who had killed countless times and eaten the flesh of his victims…and yet somehow her heart still ached at the idea of being taken from his arms.
What is wrong with me? She thought to herself, but she knew that there was only one answer. Somehow she had grown attached to Rain in the time they had spent together under Frost's watch and she could see the tenderness behind his eyes for her as well; he returned her emotions completely and felt just as lost as she did over them.
The only word she had to say to him as her heart was caught in her throat and tears in her eyes. His hands around his neck promised her a sweet release…but she found she'd prefer to live in Hell with him than escape it alone.
"Rain…" his name escaped her lips, a shaky word that was filled with so much emotion that it caused the Alpha to shudder. His forehead rested against hers, his hands loosening around her neck as he supported himself above her, his lips brushing against hers.
"I'm here, Lucy…and I'm not going anywhere," he breathed back to her before pressing his lips tenderly against hers. Lucy trembled at his words, realising then that her greatest fear wasn't living or being back with Frost…but losing Rain. The thought frightened her and she wrapped her arms around his neck, holding him closer and not wanting to let him go.
Rain trembled as he felt her return his kiss, giving into him and hugging him close. He had been terrified he was going to lose her, his wolf whining in his mind but now it growled in pleasure and tenderness as she pressed into his arms. They broke the kiss, a soft rumble coming from his lips as he ran them over the edge of hers and cheek, expressing his relief through touch that she had decided to stay with him.
Lucy closed her eyes at the gentle strokes, knowing that he was happy that she was staying and had accepted him but it didn't stop the fear that was thumping through her veins, feeling her wolf curled up in the back of her mind with its ears back in worry. Rain growled once more, as if sensing her wolf's distress and he wanted to comfort her in any way that he could.
Resting his forehead against hers, his hands tenderly stroked across her cheeks as his wolf padded forwards in his mind, extending to hers as its fur brushed over her. Lucy trembled, feeling her own beast reacting to the smallest of touches from his…and knowing that it only wanted more. A gasp came from her as her wolf uncurled, pushing forwards to greet his with a shaky growl that echoed in reality.
Rain ran his over hers again, his wolf mimicking him in their minds as his muzzle ran over hers. There was a promise in that touch, unspoken but her wolf felt it as clear as day; he would never hurt her. He vowed to keep her safe and commit himself totally to her. The thought frightened him, but he let her see his vulnerability in this; he had never given himself to a female before and he risked being shot down but her wolf reassured him by licking his muzzle. She wanted this with him; they were both frightened but they had each other to rely on.
A smile crossed the Alpha's lips and he looked down at Lucy, opening his amber eyes to focus on the new wolf…his female. The thought made him shiver and he watched as she opened her eyes and looked back at him. She smiled and the expression caused his heart to beat harder – it was the first time he had ever seen her lips curl in such a fashion and it lit up her face and eyes in a way that made his wolf growl in pleasure.
His thumb stroked up, caressing her lips and tracing the smile there, "you look breathtaking when you smile, Lucy." He whispered, not moving from above her at all as his words caused her to shiver, her tears drying on her cheeks.
"I haven't smiled since my father was murdered," she replied, enjoying the caress he gave her and allowing herself to smile further as she finally saw a light at the end of the tunnel. "I never thought a bastard would be the one to make me do so," Rain growled though in amusement as he ducked his head, pressing his lips to hers once before replying.
"But I'm your bastard, Lucy," he growled in an affectionate manner and she chuckled, though there was a warmth to her eyes.
"Yes…yes I believe you are," she breathed, reaching up and stroking his cheek. He tilted his head into her palm, growling to her as she caressed him; he was unable to believe that this was happening between them. He felt as if something would reach down and snatch it away…his mind flickered to Frost and a dangerous expression passed across his features as he snarled. Lucy paused, frowning, "Rain?"
The Alpha's eyes flickered to hers and the look behind his eyes told her everything she needed to know. Her expression hardened and she glanced away, but there was unmistakable fear behind her gaze, "I never want to see him again." She muttered but Rain pressed down, his fingers caressing her cheeks once more to reassure her.
"Lucy…I will never let him touch you again," he promised her, the thought of Frost going near her making his wolf bristle in fury. He closed his eyes, breathing softly against her skin, "I would die before I let it happen."
The thought of Rain dying made her heart shudder and she flickered her eyes back to him, shaking her head, "don't say that." His eyes focused on her and a frown creased his forehead.
"But I would – AH!" He yelped as she smacked him around the face, a punch with a kick as pain shot through his jaw. Lucy glared at him.
"You are never to die for me Rain," she growled, her heartbeat racing as she felt her emotions rise, tears coming to her eyes. "You're the only thing in my life that makes it worth living…I don't want to lose you," Rain looked down at her, ignoring his throbbing cheek but at her words he leant forwards, resting his forehead to hers.
"Well…with an attitude like yours, I'll be too frightened to die," he growled softly, tenderly rubbing his nose against hers. "So you don't need to worry about that." Lucy's heart was racing but at his words she pressed her lips to his, breathing.
"That was what I was going for," a tear escaped from the corner of her eye and he reached for it, brushing it away as a smile crossed his lips.
"Then you did it perfectly."
A Reluctant Slave

Ah dear lord I seriously hugged a pillow while writing this >_> I forgot how much I LOVE these two.

Yeah...their wolves reacting to each other has made their connection far stronger emotionally than it would have been if she had just been human...though maybe there was always that potential there anyway.

Dw - we will be skipping to Frost XD just for now, cuteness XD
