The world was a haze.
Lucy couldn't tell where she was, she couldn't hear anything; she could only smell the world around her. It was filled with the metallic smell of blood cloying her senses, making a moan come from her lips. There was pain too, such deep pain...but her mind flickered; the pain was coming from her forehead...not her stomach.
Frost straddled the human to the floor, ignoring the knife wound to her stomach as he concentrated on his work. Rain was stood at his back, watching with amber eyes as the vampire drew the rune on the human's forehead, though it wasn't for healing. She was out of harm's way as her stomach absorbed some of the power from Frost's blood he'd given her; Frost was just concentrating on making sure that this didn't happen again.
Frost hissed a word that Rain vaguely recognised though the magic was almost alien to him. Wolves didn't have the connection to magic that vampires did and Rain could only guess as to what the vampire was doing. Lucy's back arched and a scream of agony came from her lips but Frost ignored this, holding her down as he let the rune run its course.
The rune was cruel in nature, it seemed, as she continued to thrash on the floor and scream with such agony that Rain knew that the spell had to be affecting her soul. She was weak from blood loss but she still clawed at Frost, trying to get him to stop the pain but even as her nails ripped at his flesh, bloodying his wrists, he ignored her.
When she collapsed, panting, only then did Frost release her forehead. Her cheeks were soaked from tears of pain, a whimper coming from her lips. The vampire sat back, looking down at her with pale, blue eyes but instead of being angry that she had tried to take her life he seemed amused.
The world was suddenly clear to Lucy. Everything seemed to focus and she gasped, her blue eyes flickering around but they focused on the vampire that straddled her to the floor. Her heart lurched in an uncomfortable fashion, the realisation that she was still alive crossing her mind.
Her eyes closed, her head going back as she felt close to collapsing, "no..."
Frost raised an eyebrow down at her but smirked, glancing back at Rain, "great thanks for us saving your life, Lucy. Really, was I that bad in bed that you had to take your own life? I thought you quite enjoyed it." The cruel edge to his voice caused her to shudder but she was too at a loss at the idea she was still alive to get respond to it. But her mind focused on something; she could try again.
She frowned then as she realised that she could hear Rain's heartbeat...and the taste of blood and smell seemed so much sharper than before. Her blue eyes snapped open in confusion as Rain came closer, his footsteps echoing loudly in her ears.
"She was obviously faking, Frost," Rain snorted and Frost frowned.
"I feel offended."
Lucy stiffened; the world was different, something had changed about her and she didn't like it. Everything was so in focus, so alive.
The two men seemed to notice this and Frost smiled at her fear, "its ok, Lucy." He leant down over her, smiling to reveal his fangs, "it's not permanent. I had to give you some of my blood to save your life." His hand stroked her cheek, causing her to flinch though it made him chuckle, "you've just taken on aspects of vampiric powers for a short period."
Lucy's heart was thudding hard within her chest; she had to deal with the fact that she'd survived, that she was still stuck in this Hell. It crashed down on her and she shuddered, her hands clenching into fists. Vampiric magic tingled across her skin from her emotions and Frost's smile increased.
"If you concentrate hard enough, you could levitate the knife," he whispered to her, tempting her and causing her to shudder again. "Don't you want it to end, Lucy?" He looked into her eyes, holding them and showing no mercy for her there, only a cruel amusement, "with that knife you could escape from this world...from me."
The blood covered knife was in her focus as well as the vampire that she concentrated her hatred on. She was pinned, but the power read her emotions and reacted to them, knowing what she wanted. A shudder rippled through her – she just wanted to die, to escape from this fate. She could have that with the knife.
Rain was impressed when the knife began to levitate, controlled by the sheer force of her emotions and desperation to die. He watched it as it hovered, shaking in the air and trembling with effort. Frost continued to whisper things to Lucy and the hatred in her eyes was clear but also a determination.
Rain had to stop himself from grabbing the knife when it shot towards Lucy. The world froze and he frowned when the knife stopped just at the point of breaking skin. He blinked, glancing to Lucy to see her eyes had bled the silver of a vampire as she focused on its power, the determination painful within her. But something stopped her.
Frost sat back, laughing as a hand ran through his fine, blonde hair, "I forgot to mention that I have placed a rune on you, Lucy."
Her eyes closed, tears of frustration running down her cheeks. Her control seemed perfect, the desperation spurring the knife on...but something made it impossible for it to break through. She collapsed, panting slightly and letting the knife go before her eyes looked up at Frost at the mention of the rune.
He smirked, "it's simple really." He said though his words seemed like a lie, "it's a compulsion rune, Lucy. And as such with what I have written in it you have to obey. It's burnt into your soul, into your very essence." He chuckled at the fury in her eyes as he continued, "you cannot further hurt yourself, Lucy. Try all you want but you will find it impossible to so much as pinch yourself or cause yourself pain." He leant over her again, taunting as his mouth hovered close to hers, "you cannot take your own life, Lucy, and no one here will take it for you either. You are stuck."
Something shifted behind Lucy's eyes then and Frost raised an eyebrow as they bled silver once more. He smirked as he saw the knife move, determination in her eyes and he shook his head, sitting back, "you cannot hurt yourself – it is written into your soul."
"I'm not going to hurt me," she growled and Frost blinked, his mouth opening...
But he was cut off when the knife sank into his neck.
